When You Listen to the Silence
When You Listen to the Silence
When You Listen to the Silence
“Behold, I make all things new.” — Revelation 21:5
Janet Mariño
During this pause, I learned to listen in a different way—
not from the need to produce or share,
but from the desire to simply be present.
I joined a Bible study in English, trained my body with more consistency, and allowed myself moments of doing “nothing.” I listened, observed, breathed.
In those silences, the Holy Spirit kept speaking to me—not with many words, but with a deep peace that reminded me everything was still in His hands.
Amid those quiet days, crochet became my favorite space. Just like when I used to put puzzles together, the Holy Spirit taught me so much.
I realized that the season we were in—my family and I—was quite similar: we were weaving new relationships, making stitches without knowing exactly what the pattern would be. We were attentive to Heaven’s instructions, hoping not to unravel what had already been done, yet confident that even if we had to, there would be grace to start again.
And it was in the midst of that process that I understood something more clearly:
pauses are not empty spaces—they are intervals where God tunes the soul.
They are melodies of silence where He composes something new, even when it seems nothing is moving.
Coming back is not starting from zero. It is returning with a more aware heart, with clearer eyes, and with gratitude born from being held in the unseen.
Today I return to this space with that same peace and with the desire to share what God continues to do in the everyday. I’m not coming back to fill this place with words, but to let each text, each reflection, become a note in the new melody He is writing.
Thank you for being here— for walking with me as we continue to learn that everything born of Him comes back to life.

I invite you to stay close, because this November I’ll be sharing the new devotional: “When the Heart Changes Its Melody,”
a reflection on gratitude, faith, and the new sounds that rise when we let God tune our hearts.
